A growing global demand for greater achievements in transport, for sustainable energy production and environmentally responsible disposal, calls for innovative solutions. Urban areas and protected zones clearly limit the feasibility of infrastructure construction above the ground. Modern tunnelling methods, however, allow the construction of traffic tunnels, urban infrastructures, hydropower systems, irrigation and sewer tunnels even in very difficult ground conditions.
